Aquarium Heater Size Calculator FAQ
How many watts does my aquarium heater need?
This calculator estimates heater wattage from tank volume and the temperature lift between room temperature and target aquarium temperature. Treat it as a planning recommendation, not a guarantee.
Should I use one heater or two?
For larger aquariums, using two smaller heaters can improve temperature stability and redundancy. The calculator suggests a split setup when the estimated wattage or tank size is high.
Why does room temperature matter?
A heater has to cover the difference between the surrounding room and the aquarium target. A colder or unstable room usually needs more wattage and more careful placement.
Can this guarantee a stable temperature?
No. Actual heater performance depends on room temperature stability, aquarium cover, water movement, heater placement, and equipment quality.
