About this plant

Hygrophila corymbosa 'Siamensis' is a robust Southeast Asian stem plant with pointed light-green leaves and rapid, reliable growth. It has long circulated under the older name Nomaphila siamensis, but it is treated horticulturally as a form of Hygrophila corymbosa. In an aquarium it is commonly maintained at about 20 to 40 cm high and 10 to 15 cm wide, making it suitable for the midground or background. Medium light is sufficient, while stronger light and balanced iron supply can produce a subtle bronze tone. Carbon dioxide is optional but improves density and recovery after pruning. Cut the top above a node and replant it; the remaining stem normally produces several side shoots and forms a bushier group. The plant also grows readily above water and may flower in open aquariums or paludariums. Its adaptability, fast propagation and clear response to trimming make it a strong beginner plant.
