About this plant
Unidentified moss very likely belonging to Vesicularia. Aquasabi found it on an imported Bucephalandra labelled Tortoise, which gave the moss its provisional trade name. It forms a very flat creeping carpet; loose shoots can hang similarly to Weeping Moss but have a finer texture and smaller leaves of roughly 1 mm. It adheres well to hardscape. The presumed natural context is Bornean stream rocks in flood zones. Culture is not difficult, but the best compact branching occurs with medium to strong light, good CO2 and complete nutrition. Aquasabi reports normal room-temperature aquarium conditions around 20–26 °C as suitable and warns that water near 30 °C is probably unfavourable. It also grows emersed when kept moist.
