About this plant

Jalapeno is a cultivated Anubias hybrid sold for narrow, fleshy leaves and a compact branching habit. Producers attribute it to Chili and a Minima line. That parentage is a horticultural account rather than a newly accepted botanical species. Some plants show pale marking while others remain green; variegation is not guaranteed. Arrange the narrow leaves beside broader Anubias or smooth stone to make the shape contrast useful. Do not identify a plant as the wrong hybrid solely because one new leaf lacks a pale patch. Attach the rhizome to wood or stone without covering its growing stem. Roots may enter the substrate, but a buried rhizome can decay. Keep the slow-growing leaves free of debris, provide balanced water-column nutrition and avoid abrupt changes made only to chase a colour. Trim damaged leaves at their base. Divide an established rhizome into healthy leaf-bearing sections; emersed-grown stock can replace some leaves after submersion. Care ranges, where supplied, describe reported cultivation conditions rather than measured lethal limits. Width and nutrient concentrations are left unspecified where no defensible form-specific values are available.
