About this plant
Platinum is a pale, marbled Bacopa monnieri selection with thick opposite leaves. Mint-green and creamy areas can make the stems a conspicuous accent, but highly pale specimens are less forgiving than ordinary green Bacopa. Keep it in a stable planted aquarium with balanced nutrition and appropriate illumination. Avoid trying to produce white foliage by withholding nutrients. If algae coat the older leaves, restore a healthy growth balance rather than increasing light solely to pursue the photograph's colour. Plant sound shoots with enough space for light and water movement to reach their lower leaves. Use balanced macro- and micronutrient nutrition rather than treating colour alone as evidence of a specific deficiency. Trim established shoots and replant healthy tops to renew an ageing group. Nursery-grown leaves can change shape or be shed after submersion; assess the condition of new shoots and roots. Remove decaying material rather than allowing it to accumulate below the canopy. Care ranges, where supplied, describe reported cultivation conditions rather than measured lethal limits. Width and nutrient concentrations are left unspecified where no defensible form-specific values are available.
