About this plant

Marble Brazilian pennywort is a variegated Hydrocotyle leucocephala culture form. Rounded leaves with pale areas sit on flexible stems that can be guided through the midground or allowed to reach the surface. Decide early whether the stems should remain in a planted group or form surface cover. Unchecked floating growth can shade shorter plants. Trim and redirect long shoots, and separate a healthy rooted or nodal section to extend the planting. Entirely green reversions may eventually dominate a mixed group. Plant sound shoots with enough space for light and water movement to reach their lower leaves. Use balanced macro- and micronutrient nutrition rather than treating colour alone as evidence of a specific deficiency. Trim established shoots and replant healthy tops to renew an ageing group. Nursery-grown leaves can change shape or be shed after submersion; assess the condition of new shoots and roots. Remove decaying material rather than allowing it to accumulate below the canopy. Care ranges, where supplied, describe reported cultivation conditions rather than measured lethal limits. Width and nutrient concentrations are left unspecified where no defensible form-specific values are available.
