About this plant
Giant Catherine is a larger Catherine-type Bucephalandra culture form with long, waved leaves. The name refers to relative horticultural size, not a verified identification as the botanical species catherineae. Give it a midground branch or stone face with open water above it. Its longer blades can obscure smaller Bucephalandra if packed into the same crevice. Keep divisions labelled with the full Giant Catherine designation so they are not casually mixed with miniature Catherine-type plants. Secure the plant to rock or wood and leave its creeping rhizome uncovered. Gentle circulation keeps debris from settling on slow-growing foliage. Maintain balanced nutrition and stable conditions; sudden changes may be followed by leaf loss. Remove deteriorating leaves and preserve a firm living rhizome. Propagate established plants by dividing healthy leaf-bearing sections. Emerse and submerse leaf appearance can differ. General Bucephalandra guidance is not a measured tolerance limit for every named culture form. Care ranges, where supplied, describe reported cultivation conditions rather than measured lethal limits. Width and nutrient concentrations are left unspecified where no defensible form-specific values are available.
