About this plant
Fancy Twist is an Echinodorus culture form valued for leaf blades that twist and curl along their length. The sculptural leaf shape remains the reason to choose it even when colour changes with the growing conditions. Give a rosette enough lateral room for the curled blades to be visible. A twisted new leaf is not by itself evidence of deficiency in this selection; compare overall growth, roots and successive leaves before treating the plant. The cultivation name is retained without inventing a botanical species or a verified pedigree. Plant the roots in an adequately nourished substrate while leaving the crown at its surface. Allow room for the rosette rather than using the dimensions of a nursery pot as its final footprint. Remove unwanted outer leaves at their base. Balanced root-zone nutrition supports establishment; it does not guarantee a particular colour. Emergent leaves can be replaced underwater. Where flower-stalk plantlets develop, allow them to form roots before separating them. Care ranges, where supplied, describe reported cultivation conditions rather than measured lethal limits. Width and nutrient concentrations are left unspecified where no defensible form-specific values are available.
