Echinodorus 'Regine Hildebrandt' is a small, slow-growing sword plant cultivar with intensely wine-red submerged leaves. Its compact rosette usually remains around 15 to 20 cm tall, making it suitable for the foreground of large aquariums or as a colourful midground focal point in smaller layouts. The narrow-ovate leaves are slightly twisted and retain their dark red character better than many larger Echinodorus cultivars. Good lighting is important for strong colour, while a nutrient-rich substrate supports the plant's extensive root system and steady new growth. Carbon dioxide is beneficial but does not replace consistent root nutrition. Growth is deliberate rather than fast, so the plant should not be shaded by taller species. Propagation occurs through adventitious plantlets on inflorescences or by carefully dividing an established rhizome.
