About this plant

Cultivated Rotala rotundifolia form also known as Blood Red Singapore and notable for exceptionally intense red colour. Under comparable conditions its submerged foliage is darker red than the well-known Colorata form. Shoots grow upright to ascending, becoming more horizontal under very strong light, and can exceed 50 cm. For display they are best maintained around 20–40 cm by regular trimming and replanting of tops. Growth is fast and branching is naturally good. The plant can survive moderate light and without injected CO2, but strong light, CO2 and complete macro- and micronutrition give the deepest colour. Aquasabi states an optimum temperature range of about 18–28 °C. Emersed growth is possible but tends to remain greener.
