About this plant
Geographic form of Hygrophila pinnatifida apparently collected in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India; the abbreviation UK refers to Uttara Kannada, not the United Kingdom. Compared with the common aquarium form, its leaves tend to become somewhat longer, more deeply lobed and more prone to red coloration. Culture and use otherwise correspond to H. pinnatifida. Medium to strong light, injected CO2, complete macro- and micronutrient supply and temperatures above 20 °C are recommended; Aquasabi gives roughly 25–29 °C as optimal. The plant may be rooted in substrate or allowed to attach to hardscape with its roots. Propagate by cuttings and the numerous runner-like lateral shoots. Regular pruning keeps growth compact.
