About this plant
Tiger is a Cryptocoryne spiralis culture form recognized for narrow leaves with a dark striped or flecked pattern. That marking distinguishes the selected form from spiralis Red; the names should not be interchanged because both can have reddish foliage. Plan for a tall clump in the midground or background. A specialist ADA profile reports leaves reaching 30 cm or more, so a small tissue-culture plant is not evidence of a dwarf adult. Do not cut every blade halfway down to enforce the shipping size; remove unwanted older leaves at the base. Plant the roots securely with the crown at substrate level and avoid repeatedly uprooting the clump. Supply nutrients to the established root zone. Some old leaves may melt after a change of growing conditions; remove decaying material but retain a sound crown. Established clumps can be increased by separating rooted daughter plants. Remove unwanted older leaves at their base rather than shearing the whole rosette. Care ranges, where supplied, describe reported cultivation conditions rather than measured lethal limits. Width and nutrient concentrations are left unspecified where no defensible form-specific values are available.
