Rotala sp. 'Wayanad'

Wayanad is a documented Rotala culture form associated with the Wayanad area of Kerala. It has fine, narrow, light green to yellow-green submerged leaves and can develop a conspicuously horizontal, bushy habit under strong light. Use it as a fine-textured midground group and trim projecting shoots to retain a low outline. Specialist cultivation describes a plant comparable in ease to rotundifolia, but that resemblance does not settle its species identity. Red-colour claims from general supplier copy are not used to redefine this green-leaved form. Plant sound shoots with enough space for light and water movement to reach their lower leaves. Use balanced macro- and micronutrient nutrition rather than treating colour alone as evidence of a specific deficiency. Trim established shoots and replant healthy tops to renew an ageing group.
