About this plant
Variegated Hygrophila corymbosa is a vigorous stem-plant culture form with light green, yellowish or creamy areas on the leaves. It is separate from variegated water wisteria and polysperma Sunset, which belong to different species. Use a background group with enough spacing for the lower leaves to receive light. Regular topping encourages side shoots, while fresh cuttings can renew bare lower stems. Solid-green reversions may eventually dominate a marked group; assess the growing tips and remove unwanted reverted shoots when maintaining the selected pattern. Plant sound shoots with enough space for light and water movement to reach their lower leaves. Use balanced macro- and micronutrient nutrition rather than treating colour alone as evidence of a specific deficiency. Trim established shoots and replant healthy tops to renew an ageing group. Nursery-grown leaves can change shape or be shed after submersion; assess the condition of new shoots and roots. Remove decaying material rather than allowing it to accumulate below the canopy. Care ranges, where supplied, describe reported cultivation conditions rather than measured lethal limits. Width and nutrient concentrations are left unspecified where no defensible form-specific values are available.
